In this blog you’ll be able to follow the weight progress of a Swedish married couple where the husband has been prescribed Ozempic since last fall and the wife has been prescribed, and started treatment with Mounjaro today, June 21st.
Follow us during this summer to find out which of us manages to lose the most weight.
Our starting weights will be weighed in tomorrow morning.
Sorry for the lack of updates! We listened to the weather gods and went “full vacation mode”. We’ll report back with our horrible progress, if there even is one.
Takeaway: neither Mounjaro or Ozempic prevents you from living an “all-inclusive”-lifestyle. Too much alcohol and food to realistically even count this week.
Sorry about the intermission, we’ll be back soon… hopefully 😅
After a week or so of drinking and bad character our weights tell a clear story; neither Ozempic or Mounjaro is some kind of miracle medicine that makes you loose weight if you don’t even try yourself. Mrs. Mounjaro is up to ~130 kilos again and I weigh a massive 155 kilos.
Summer often brings this kind of behavior out of me, but I’ll do my best to stay sober and mindful of what I eat for the rest of the summer.
Mrs. Mounjaro is going away on a short vacation this week, so she’ll have to fight the weight battle by herself. We’ll be back with another update on Thursday or Friday.
Mrs. Mounjaro has lost 4.1 kilos in a week and have experienced no side effects at all according to her. At least nothing that has made any impact on her day to day life. She thinks that maybe she has been burping a bit more than usual, but nothing else.
I have failed miserably this week and actually gained a about kilo from our first weigh in. I’m not that surprised tho. I haven’t eaten “right” at all the last few days. I almost wish the Ozempic had the same effect as it had last fall when I started my treatment, but at the same time I had so many bad side effects that I felt miserable all the time. So, I’m going to lean into the little effect that I can feel from the Ozempic and do my best the rest of my prescribed time on Ozempic. I have 11 doses left until my prescription is up. I feel I need to make the most of it. After that I’ll probably suggest they prescribe me Mounjaro as well, despite it not being covered by health care like the Ozempic. It all depends on how well the Mounjaro works for my wife.
Anyway, we’re going on a short holiday this week and will be more or less “off the grid”. It’ll be interesting to see the weight progress on Thursday when we’re back home again after a few days of laziness and some alcohol.
Fingers crossed we haven’t gained any weight at least.
Mrs. Mounjaro had the hopes of losing 3.3 kilos pretty fast so that she would weigh less than 130 kilos and feel some good progress. Well, today she had already lost those 3.3 kilos and some change! She weighed in at 129.8 kilos today.
She still isn’t quite sure how much the Mounjaro is helping her with cravings and overeating, but she’s losing weight nonetheless. Both me and her is hoping that the kilos will continue to disappear this effortless, even tho we both know that will probably not be the case.
As for me, the Ozempic hasn’t really done anything at all the last few days and I’m having a really hard time not getting a snack or a totally unnecessary meal before bed. My weight progress is back to nothing. I weigh as much as I did when we started. I’m just not in the right headspace at the moment. Hopefully this feeling of complete failure and disappointment in myself will either trigger me to go all in and find that headspace again, or at least go away so that I can try to work my way into it again.
Anyway, let’s not end this post with a downer like this and instead remember and be joyful about Mrs. Mounjaro’s progress instead!
…and weighed in despite Wednesday being the next weigh in day.
Mrs. Mounjaro has been feeling a bit of nausea that comes and goes, but it hasn’t been bad at all. She thinks that the Mounjaro has helped a bit with both hunger and cravings , but mostly the cravings which had helped her to not overeat the last days. Wether it’s her determination or the Mounjaro is too soon to tell, but the scale doesn’t lie.
Mrs. Mounjaro has lost 3.3 kilos since Sunday.
For me, the Ozempic has done pretty much what I’m used to by now, so I have felt full from less food, but I’ve still eaten more than I need just because the food was so good. I really never need to eat another plate of food once I’ve eaten the first, but yeah, that’s all me. Once the worst bad reactions from the Ozempic got lesser and lesser I’m having a harder time stopping in time. However, I haven’t eaten anymore snacks or food between the daily meals which has actually let me loose some weight as well.
I’m down 1.4 kilos since Sunday.
Once I get into the correct headspace and routines again I’ll be able to get a more reliable weight loss again. My aim is to replace one meal everyday with my diet shake until the shakes are consumed.
Tonight we’re going to see Millencolin, Weezer and Green Day, so today we will be eating fast food since we’ll be out and about all day. We’ll see how that turns out and what our weights are tomorrow (if we weigh in) or on Saturday if we can make it that long without weighing us again.
We’ll have a weigh in every Sunday and Wednesday or Thursday through the summer.
After the weigh in we both ate breakfast. Today’s breakfast was scrambled eggs and a cup of coffee. Mrs. Mounjaro felt full after only a few bites while Mr. Ozempic ate the whole portion. Mrs. Mounjaro is unsure wether it’s the Mounjaro that made her feel full, if it’s a placebo effect from taking the Mounjaro or if she’s still full from the pizza we ate for dinner yesterday. Come lunch or dinner the pizza should not be a factor anymore, so we’ll have another update for you soon.
Evening update:
It’s been a hot day here in Sweden and we were out and about a few hours.
For lunch Mrs. Mounjaro ate a chicken kebab wrap and I drank a Diet Shake, not because I needed to, but because I have left over from being on a diet before and want to use it instead of throw it away.
For dinner we all ate Falukorv and pasta. Mrs. Mounjaro has been saying she’s been feeling a bit nauseated during the day, but at dinner she couldn’t tell if the Mounjaro did any difference at all, but kept her portion size to a normal size even tho she wanted to eat more.
And when it comes to me, the Ozempic did what it does, I felt full, but let my bad character get to me and ate a bit more anyway. I’ll probably get punished as you often do if you overeat on Ozempic, but so far I’m ok!
If there’s any questions at all, feel free to comment and we’ll respond as best we can.
